Commissioners approve $8,000 to preserve historical documents

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 1:15 PM EDT

CASSOPOLIS - County commissioners June 19 appropriated $8,000 from the general fund for an historical documentation project.

Cass County government has a number of old documents that should be preserved for future generations.

Cass District Library's Local History Branch has many photos to preserve, too.

Cass District Library and the county have an opportunity for a student in the public history program at Western Michigan University to intern this summer.

This person would scan and catalog these materials into archive software - the same software the Museum at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac uses.
